Phone at 8 pm the previous night
If you are not staying at the Parador, you can phone them at 8pm the previous night to confirm if they have any vacant tables for breakfast. They will then give you available times between 07:00 am and 10:30 am. Each sitting is 45 minutes.
Make sure to take your official Pilgrim’s Credential or Compostela with you and to tell the maitre d when you arrive so that they can bill you correctly.
A rich tradition
According to the hotel’s website it started as a Royal hospital with the Catholic monarchs to give them shelter.
The historical building offers two restaurants, a luxurious dining room called Dos Reis restaurant and a second more informal restaurant. The informal restaurant offers traditional Galician cuisine, and is called Enxebre restaurant.
Specialities include lobster, scallop and shrimp, shellfish from the estuary, Galician beef tenderloin, octopus, rice with shellfish and Galician empanada.
The Parador in Santiago also maintains the custom of offering a free meal to the first ten pilgrims every day who gets their Compostela. A lunch voucher is stamped to their number in the line.
